Crete, Rethymnon Beach Lothario Captured!

My partner shot this brief video on Rethymnon beach in Crete, and it’s me in the sea. When I saw this clip, I thought it was hilarious cos of the speed at which the camera shoots back to me, as soon as it’s noticed that someone else has me in their sights!

On the topic of Rethymnon beach, the sea at Rethymnon is always a few degrees warmer than elsewhere along the North coast of Crete, presumably because of the harbour. Rethymnon beach is small, and fronts the busy shopping area, but I’ve never seen it overcrowded, and there is a good atmosphere in Rethymnon.

I am half Greek on my Mother’s side and I’ve always wanted to visit Greece. The dance song Kritikos Horos we would dance to all the time and always had me thinking of Crete.

My wife and I have taken several cruises with stops in the Greek Isles, and she visited Crete many years ago. I have not traveled there yet, but it is on the list. Thanks for a great site.

One of the aspects of Crete that I particularly love is the island’s history, and that there are so many magnificent remains and reminders still in evidence. It’s a very magic kingdom - do hope you make it there! ;-)

You have now, thanks! I’m customising another theme to use on this site, but I’ll retain the same palette, cos it’s perfect for a site about the sun, sea and sand of Crete. :-)

I was there in the 1980’s, long before video was as portable or accessible as it is now. I did shoot hundreds of photos… and have tons of memories.
